WHAT
IS YOUR USUAL TURN AROUND TIME FOR JOB COMPLETION?
Our turn-around for most documents is about a
week. Our web presses enable us to finish runs
quickly and we can occasionally adjust schedules to meet the
needs of our clients, even next day service is possible.
WHAT
IS YOUR MINIMUM PRESS RUNS?
The economies of scale begin to set in for our
printing presses at 50,000 impressions. Every document and
project needs to be considered together to determine whether
web printing is the most economical solution. We are
always happy to give quotes over the phone or here on the
internet.
WHAT IS THE
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A WEB PRESS AND A SHEET-FED PRESS?
It was widely thought for years that sheet-fed press
product’s quality was better than web press. This perception
was due largely to the fact that sheet fed products were
printed on higher, more expansive grades of paper. Today,
experienced print buyers will confirm, that if a web job is
printed on the same grade of paper, the quality of printing is
equal.
Heat-set webs are webs that print blanket-to-blanket with
process inks on coated paper. Most of these web presses are
capable of both, square inch work also called sheets
and page work also called signatures.
Most of the web presses fall into the following three
categories:
Mini web – 11 x 17 = 4 page signature.
Half web – 17.5 x 25.5 = 8 page signature
Full web – 23.5 x 37.5 = 16 page signature
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF THE WEB PRESS VS. A SHEET-FED
PRESS?
w
Web
presses print five to six times faster than sheet-fed presses,
resulting in lower cost per thousand, quicker job turnaround,
scheduling flexibility, and a lower price to the end user.
w
Web paper comes in rolls and costs less. Web presses print both sides of the paper at once with no drying
time necessary.
w
Web presses are capable of running lighter weight paper stocks
such as 30lb.and 40lb., effectively reducing mailing costs to
the end user.
w
Web presses are capable of versatile finishing operations such as:
folding, pattern perforating, die cutting, re-moistenable and
backbone gluing, UV coating, scoring and trimming – all in
line “ on the run.”
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE OPEN
AND HEAT-SET LARGE VOLUME PRINTING?
Open or Cold set printing is when the new ink is
allowed to dry in the air without the application of heat or
infrared. Heat set printing involves heating the
product during the processing to quickly dry the ink.
It allows for more efficient production of
4 color projects.
